1. Is your 'Expression of Wish' form up to date?

When was the last time you updated your 'Expression of Wish' form?

A recent report suggests that as many as 750,000 people in the UK may risk leaving pension benefits to an ex-partner simply because they haven’t kept their scheme’s trustee up to date with their circumstances.

2. Power of Attorney — plan now for the future

Many members choose to plan for a time when they may want a family member or other representative to deal with their pension on their behalf.

This could be anything from helping deal with correspondence now, to making all their financial or welfare decisions if they were to become mentally incapacitated in the future.

3. Pension scams

Sadly, the coronavirus has sparked an increase in fraudulent activity. Pension scammers are using the crisis to prey on people’s fears and isolation, by offering to transfer pension savings into supposed 'safe havens'.

4. Keeping in touch

It’s very important that you let us know if you change address. If we can’t get in touch with you, we might not be able to pay your pension on time. Please make sure that we hold your personal email details, not a work email address. We ask for this so that if you were to leave BT, or any other employer, we are still able to get in touch with you.
